Faces of Rescue ~ 2014

An estimated 3-4 million animals are euthanized in US shelters each year – that’s nearly 10,000 animals killed every day.  They were unwanted, abandoned, surrendered, unclaimed, lost, forgotten and never made it out of the shelter.  That is the heartbreaking reality. Animal rescue organizations all over the world are working hard to save homeless animals in their communities and reduce that number down to zero.  Everyone involved in animal rescue dreams of the day when adoptable animals are no longer euthanized.  It will be a glorious day! Gold King Mine and Ghost Town

Junkyards are treasure troves for photographers.  Last month, I visited one of my favorite junkyards,  the Gold King Mine and Ghost Town in Jerome, AZ.  It’s a haven of old cars, trucks, mining equipment, machinery, tools, and everything in between – rust never looked so beautiful!  And yes Pedro Gonzales, the resident burro, still greets visitors as do the many free roaming chickens and roosters. A few goats round out the menagerie. Client Sessions | Pet Photography

I’ve been absent from my blog for several months. Had the best intentions to keep it current but that didn’t happen.  I struggle with words – it takes me forever to write a few paragraphs. So, from now on I will  keep the words to a minimum and let my photographs do the talking. In a nutshell, it’s been a busy year with rescue shoots, teaching, HeARTs Speak work, client sessions, fine art projects and a few commercial jobs.  I am very thankful for my camera, animals, family and friends.  I have cut back on the number of client sessions I do each year so I can devote more time to rescue work and creative, fine art projects.  While I don’t do as many...
